A shared vision for a new era of construction in India
Opening the Ahmedabad session, Ambassador Mikko Kivikoski, Embassy of Finland in New Delhi, highlighted the shared opportunity between India and Finland in leading sustainable innovation:
“India and Finland share a strong opportunity to advance a more sustainable era of construction. The presentations at the Precast Academy demonstrated that industrialized construction is not only about building faster and with greater consistency. It is also about using fewer raw materials, reducing water consumption and applying methods that lower CO₂ emissions throughout the construction process. By combining Indian ambition with Finnish expertise, we can accelerate the transition towards resource-efficient, high-quality and sustainable urban development.”

Transforming construction together in Precast Academy in Ahmedabad – highlights:
Bringing together some of the most influential voices in India’s precast sector, the Precast Academy in Ahmedabad highlighted how industrialized construction is transforming the delivery of buildings and infrastructure. Through project case studies presented by PSP Projects, Buildcast Solutions, My Home Construction, and CASL Suraksha Smart City, participants gained valuable insights into the successful implementation of precast solutions at scale.
Complementing these discussions, industry experts from Vakio Global, Puustelli, ElectroMech, Aquarius Engineers, Leviat, Lumon, and Schnell showcased innovations spanning automated production technologies, modular construction, reinforcement processing, material handling, batching solutions, glazed balconies, and railway sleeper manufacturing. Together, these presentations demonstrated the growing role of advanced technologies in driving efficiency, quality, and sustainability throughout the construction industry.
Beyond the technical discussions, the Precast Academy highlighted the strength of India’s growing precast community, fostering valuable peer-to-peer dialogue and reinforcing a shared commitment to improving efficiency, quality, and sustainability across the construction sector. The event concluded with a visit to the PSP Precast facility, offering participants a firsthand look at large-scale precast production in action and underscoring the importance of collaboration in advancing the future of construction.
India’s construction need for efficiency and sustainability
India’s cities, home to about 35% of the population and generating nearly 70% of GDP, are expanding faster than ever. With the urban population expected to reach 50% (around 840 million people) by 2050, the demand for infrastructure is immense.
That urgency, according to Chander Dutta, CEO, Elematic India, makes the adoption of precast construction an essential step:
