FaMe shuttering speeds up casting at DS Elcobyg

DS Elcobyg’s factory in the Danish town of Hobro specializes in precast sandwich walls and façade elements. The 52 tables are operated quickly and reliably thanks to Elematic’s FaMe shuttering system for precast formwork. Initially tested in Hall 5, the system quickly spread throughout the factory and is now used daily across all four casting halls.

Producing up to 65 elements per day, DS Elcobyg staff praise the FaMe shuttering system for its high quality and reliability. Its superpower, however, is speed. “The biggest benefit is that it is much faster to build up the table and demold, and we don’t have to drill in the tables, so we have saved money, lots of money. The speed has saved us at least six people’s work!” says Production Manager Carsten Kronborg.

DS Elcobyg’s 200 employees manufacture elements for residential, commercial, and agricultural buildings across Denmark. The demanding projects require high-quality sandwich walls and facades of different types and sizes. “With FaMe, it is faster to switch for example between widths,” says John Johansen, foreman at the factory’s Hall 5. The flexibility is a great asset with heights ranging from 120mm up to 560mm and changes for every 20mm, notes Johansen, who applauds how easy it is to maintain the powder-coated aluminum profiles.  

At DS Elcobyg, they are also delighted with Elematic’s service, support, and willingness to help. “We wanted to use steel plates under the shuttering system to reuse them and save money, time, and carbon emissions. The Elematic team came up with the idea that we can use sliding magnets,” remembers Kronborg. “Before, we used plywood in nearly 50 percent of our formwork. Now, we use plywood in less than two percent.” 

This innovation is called Elematic’s FaMe Flex Ladder system that consists of lightweight aluminum profiles and can be combined with wood/plywood, sheet metal or other materials.
