Lifting a hollow core slab

Would you like to work in an international environment in a role that combines technical understanding with hands-on procurement? We are looking for a Purchasing Engineer to strengthen our procurement team for our Riihimäki production. In this role, you will have a direct impact on supply chain performance by building manufacturing BOM structures for engineered-to-order products and ensuring the right materials and parts are available at the right time—while meeting cost and quality targets.

Location: Riihimäki or Akaa (with regular travel to Riihimäki)
Reports to: Head of Global Procurement
Department: Procurement

Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain manufacturing BOM structures for engineer-to-order products
  • Support production and work planning together with the production manager work in close collaboration with the production team to resolve daily issues
  • Analyze technical drawings and evaluate suitable production options especially for machined metal parts (methods, lead time, cost impact, supplier capacity)
  • Run RFQs and competitive tendering for purchased materials and parts
  • Create purchase orders and follow up on purchasing progress
  • Supplier follow-up: ensure material availability at the right time and maintain active communication with suppliers
  • Develop supplier quality in cooperation with the quality team
  • Support product costing and pricing activities as needed
  • Support the develop of procurement processes and tools for efficiency
  • Participate in equipment testing/commissioning when needed

About you

  • Relevant technical degree (B.Eng./equivalent)
  • Hands-on understanding of production and manufacturing methods—especially machining of metal parts—and ability to assess manufacturability and production feasibility
  • Experience in building and maintaining item/BOM structures and work/manufacturing plans (ERP/master data)
  • Experience from hands-on procurement of machined metal parts.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • English skills for supplier communication and international collaboration is an asset
  • Structured, self-driven way of working; able to manage multiple parallel topics (BOM/work plans/purchasing) and systematic follow-up
  • Strong collaboration and coordination skills (design, sales, service, warehouse, production, and suppliers)
  • Fluent written and spoken Finnish communication
