The Director of HSEQ will be responsible for leading the strategic development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of our organization’s HSEQ management systems. This role ensures compliance with relevant regulations, fosters a culture of safety and environmental responsibility, and promotes quality assurance initiatives at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement the organization’s HSEQ strategy in alignment with business goals.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the HSEQ team and other stakeholders.
- Foster a proactive culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and quality excellence.
- Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure full compliance with local, national, and international health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
- Lead risk assessments and incident investigations, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure all required permits and documentation are in place.
- Policy & Systems Development:
- Develop and maintain HSEQ policies, procedures, and systems, including ISO certifications (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001).
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of HSEQ programs and make recommendations for improvement.
- Training & Awareness:
- Design and oversee HSEQ training programs for staff at all levels.
- Promote employee engagement and awareness in safety and environmental initiatives.
- Audit & Reporting:
- Lead internal and external HSEQ audits and inspections.
- Prepare and present reports to senior leadership on HSEQ performance, trends, and improvement plans.
- Sustainability & Environmental Stewardship:
- Champion sustainability initiatives and drive continuous improvement in environmental performance.
- Identify and mitigate environmental risks across operations.
About you
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of progressive HSEQ experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of HSEQ legislation, standards, and best practices.
- Proven track record of managing HSEQ programs in manufacturing or construction
- Experience with ISO management systems and certifications.
- Quality related six sigma or equivalent lean training certification.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in English and Finnish; written and spoken, other languages are seen as an advantage.
